Ayutla FD Project

on . Posted in General News & Announcements

In 2007 Firefighters Crossing Borders.org in cooperation with Local Gig Harbor Business men and another non profit called Tapfire.org  began working on establishing the first department for the town of Ayutla in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Ayutla is approximately 90 minutes south of Guadalajara. The home town for a local Gig Harbor Restaurant owner, he approached us for help in establishing a emergency response capability where there was none. We brought in other local groups and became part of the effort to establish a new Fire Department. Through this group effort a Fire engine, ambulance and equipment were gathered and delivered to the new Fire Department. Later in the year we participated in a initial training academy where a group of Firefighters were given the initial training to safely operate as firefighters. Since then we have provided assistance and access to our network of instructors and donors to help make the effort sustainable. Now known as the Mission to mexico group they have been working to maintain efforts we started. http://www.themissiontomexico.com/Home.htm
