Since beginning this journey in late 2010 after connecting with Lion Apparel USA, we have recognized the great need for proper, good working Personal Protection Gear throughout Mexico and the Americas. In pursuing this goal to distribute the 7000 plus sets that Lion is making available we have partnered with the Mexican National Fire Chiefs Association to get the word out on this program.
Through our longtime connection with Cal Fire Southern Region Deputy Chief Ignacio Otero, we have now added the (MNFCA) Mexican National Fire Chiefs association as one of the partners for this program. With our new partner we will be attending the Mexican National Fire Chief Association Convention in mid November 2011 to promote this project. Working diligently, our Regional Representative and FFCB Project Lead Retired AC Brian Singleton now residing in the PuertaVallarta area has brought together all partners to kick off this program. To date we are told that the Fire Chiefs are looking to order the first 500 sets shortly after the Convention.
We are also in the process of looking for other manufacturers and Vendors who have used/surplused , trade-in and older good working equipment who are interested in continuing the service life through this program. In the past we have partnered with Hurst -Jaws of Life on a special project and are looking to renew that partnership.
You can follow our progress on this site, Mexican Fire Chiefs site and the Rotary Project site. amjbomberos.org , www.rotaryfirewcsproject.com
If you are a rotary member in your community and would like to present this project to your club feel free to download the ppt presentation on the Rotary project website or contact Rocio or Brian who's contact is also on the site. |

In the works for several months, Lion apparel has joined with Firefighters Crossing Borders.org and Rotary Mexico to bolster a World Service project initiated by Rotary Mexico and FFCB. Lion Apparel, A US based company, has over 10,000 ensembles (Turnout Jacket and Pants, Hood, gloves, Helmet) of turnouts from Great Britain which were recently rotated out of service. Unable to be used here in the US or in Europe as PPE, They contacted us to see where we could help in deploying them where they can be used.
With our recently organized Rotary project, this was just what we needed to help get it off the ground. Through the project and with the help of the Mexican National Fire Chiefs Association, we are working to get thousands of ensembles to Firefighters across Mexico and Latin America.
As we did with Hurst in 2009, we are partnering with Lion to provide newer servicable gear where none exist. We look forward to talking with other manufacturers of emergency and medical gear to become involved as well. |
