Bates Fire Academy

Pat Piper, Bates Fire Training Chief and a member of FFCB met with officials of the University of Tijuana, Mexico in hopes of creating a dialog between the two schools. The goal, to bring structured fire training to the region, F.F.C.B is working with the Bates Fire Academy, (Tacoma, WA,) in becoming an active partner. We continue the work started in 2005 still with hopes of establishing a link and training academy in Mexico.

Our goal is to assist in what matters most to the recipients of our generosity. We are regularly in contact with our brothers and sisters across our border and are continually asking what needs they have. We evaluate their status, make suggestions and develop classes and curriculum that will ensure their success and self-reliance in the future.

    • CPR - Taught to more than 100 fire department and Red Cross personnel.
    • AED - Delivered and provided training for 10 donated AEDs to 3 Mexican departments and agencies.
    • Confined space awareness
    • Basic Rescue Systems One
    • Air trailer maintenance and operations
    • Work hands-on with Mexican Red Cross (their main medical providers)
    • Hi-rise awareness
    • Delivered refurbished SCBA's and instructed 3 agency's personnel on SCBA donning , emergency procedures and maintainence
    • Delivered and instructed use of AEDs to a large Tecate Business.
    • Developed evolution book in spanish along with a training power point.

    • Vehicle extrication Basics to advanced
    • Firefighter safety and Air Management
    • Joint venture to establish a new fire department soup to nuts in Ayutla
    • 2006 Delivery of 100' Arial and Training to Culiacan
    • 2007 Delivery of 3 Engines and Training to Tecate
    • 2008 Delivery of a Tele-Squirt to Culiacan
    • 2008 Joint training with Tijuana Fire and Tecate fire
 
FFCB Has a New Project

Firefighters Crossing Borders.org in cooperation with Local Gig Harbor Business men and another non profit called Tapfire.org have begun working on establishing the first department for the town of Ayutla in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Ayutla is approximately 90 minutes south of Guadalajara. We are in the process of procuring a Fire engine and creating the infrastructure needed to begin the newly created Fire department.

FFCB continues its current projects, all donations will be used where there is the most need.
