Since the initial quake in Haiti, FFCB has been working with local groups who are heading down to provide disaster assistance.
In the beginning, we worked with local firefighters and emergency workers who traveled to Haiti to help. We opened our equipment storage to provide what ever could be used. From medical supplies we have accumulated from various sources to Drink water paks and True North pak systems donated by True North Inc. ,they were able to go to Haiti and make a difference.
This local group has since formed it's own entity called Disaster Relief Northwest and has begun working in partnership with NOAH, a non profit based in Haiti. It's through NOAH that they are able to work in the country.
Firefighters Crossing Borders has agreed to provide fiscal responsibility as a IRS 501c3 non profit, which will allow donations to be tax deductible when given to Disaster Relief Northwest.
We can now take donations through the website and all donations to FFCB will continue to be used 100% toward mission operations. We do not compensate any director or instructor, and have no ongoing management expense other than maintaining our website. |

Joel recently visited the Bomberos in Tecate in preparation for our 2010 mission. We talked about the department assigning a liason who will be there no matter what and the chief assigned long time member and enterpreter Captain Martin Tovar aka "Tocho". With Captain Tovar in the lead we hope to streamline communications and quickly bring the departments in the Baja together for some great training. |

After several years using generously donated storage space in the Gig Harbor Area we are no longer going to have access to the space and are looking for alternatives. We had 2 10×10 units and are looking for similar space. We prefer in the Pac nw area even better close to our operations. We welcome any ideas. Thanks for the continued interest and folks signing up for our email and newsletters |

Jeff Hennessey our brother from Chicago Fire Dept recently returned from the state of Guanajato where he has been carrying on a personal effort to help the firefighters in a small town he has grown to love. We were able to help get him some equipment to bring and they were very appreciative. He is trying to help them work on some of the safety issues we take for granted in our country and as we so often have experienced, it is taking time. He is looking for any help and you if interested he can be contacted through us. Just send a message we will forward to Jeff. |
