About Sonora

Sonora is located in Northwest Mexico, bordered by the states of Chihuahua to the east, Baja California to the northwest and Sinaloa to the south. To the north, it shares the U.S.–Mexico border with the states of Arizona and New Mexico, and on the west has a significant share of the coastline of the Gulf of California.  It has an area of 179,355 km(69,249 sq mi) and a population of 2,755,258 (2012).

Sonora-chiefs-with-equipmenFirefighters Crossing Borders donated much needed firefighting equipment to the Fire Chiefs Association of Sonora.

Our donation included a lot of turnouts, helmets, gloves, boots, SCBA's, hose, rescue and hazmat equipment along with medical supplies. This equipment came out of the FFCB Port Townsend warehouse and the Comox Rotary Club members from Canada transported it to Nogales USA.

truck1Nogales Mexico firefighters assisted with importation of the equipment and moving it too the 2015 Fire Chiefs Association's convention in Caborca. The equipment was distributed to the States 25 fire departments.

going-through-donationJosé Maneul Hernández, fire chief of Nogales Mexico is also president of the Sonora Fire Chiefs Association. We'll continue working with Chief Hernández to support the firefighters of Sonora and Nogales fire department will assist our efforts to move equipment through Nogales to other project areas in Mexico.
